Slumdog Millionaire Star Moving to their New Mumbai Home

Azharuddin Ismail, Slumdog Millionaire child star finally has a place to call home.

Young Oscar-winning star and his family will be moving this coming Saturday to a new apartment that they got last month through the Jai Ho Trust, set up by filmmakers Christian Colson and Danny Boyle. The family already moved in pots and pans, a television, and their birdcage, will be fully moved to their new apartment by Tuesday.

They used to live in Santa Cruz West, a suburb north of the Mumbai slum Islmael, the ground-floor dwelling was purchased by the produces for $42,000 and located in a modern apartment complex where they have running water and electricity. Slumdog Millionaire child star will take control of the deed when he turns 18.

“I like it here, it is really nice. But I will miss my old friends…” the Slumdog Millionaire child star told Reuters. “Maybe I will go and visit them once a while.”

Ismail’s old home was demolished last May in the middle of the night after city authorities deemed it illegal.
